Darrell Moore began serving as Greene County Prosecuting Attorney on January 1, 1999. He was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri, and graduated from Central High School (1975), Southwest Baptist University (1979) and the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Law (1982). Since graduating from law school, he has served as a law clerk at the Missouri Court of Appeals - Southern District, (1982-1983), an attorney in private practice (1984-1985; 1998) and as an assistant and chief assistant prosecuting attorney for Greene County (1983-1984; 1985-1998).


Darrell is a member of The Missouri Bar, Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, National District Attorneys Association, the Association of Government Attorneys in Capital Litigation, and the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (Treasurer, 2009- ). He is also a POST certified instructor who teaches at the Springfield, Missouri Police Academy.

Personal

Darrell Moore was born July 6, 1957 in Springfield, Missouri. He’s been happily married since 1980, when he married Blye Little of Bolivar. Darrell and Blye have three children, Brittany (25), Hayley (20), and Alex who, born July 1987, passed away that same month.


An avid reader (as time allows), Darrell frequents the biography, history, politics/current events, and spy novel shelves at bookstores. He and his family enjoy live sporting events, both amateur and pro, church mission projects, evening walks, travelling and relaxing together with friends.

Darrell belongs to and is active in many community organizations, including:

  • The Ozarks Fighting Back Advisory Board (President 2002-2005, 2007-present; President, Agency/Business Coalition 1994-1995, 1996-1998)

  • The Community Partnership of the Ozarks Board
  • Ambassadors for Children Advisory Board
  • The Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Missouri Advisory Committee
  • First Baptist Church, Springfield (member since 1982; Deacon; college and career Sunday School teacher since 2007; Chairman of Deacons 1999, discipleship training director 1987-90, 1992-93, Youth Sunday School teacher 1983-2004)


In 2003, Darrell was honored with the "Top DWI Prosecutor's Award" from MADD.
